Responsibilities

Office of Global Affairs

  1. Administrative Assistance: Provides comprehensive support for international students before and after their arrival in Taiwan. Before arrival, the office assists with visa applications and medical examinations for international, overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao, and Mainland Chinese students. After arrival, services include airport pickup, transportation guidance, and assistance with registration procedures such as tuition payment, course selection, health checks, insurance and National Health Insurance applications, Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) processing, scholarship applications, and work permit services. The office also provides assistance in explaining related regulations and foreign-language versions of the student handbook.
  2. Tzu Chi University International Student Association: Unites members from Mainland China, Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and other regions, and continues to grow steadily each year. The association regularly organizes social gatherings and cultural exchange events to foster friendship, mutual support, and a sense of belonging among international students, helping them adapt more easily to life in Taiwan. Various cultural activities are held, such as international nights featuring dance and singing performances that showcase the members’ diverse cultural backgrounds and talents through teamwork and creativity. The association also hosts an International Food Bazaar, where members prepare local delicacies from their home countries, allowing faculty, staff, and students to experience and enjoy authentic global cuisines on campus.
  3. International Student Buddy Program: Pairs local students with international students to help them adapt to campus life and enhance their Chinese language skills. The program aims to reduce language barriers and provide additional Chinese learning support outside the classroom. Buddies are carefully selected and trained by instructors from the Chinese Language Center before being matched with international students.
  4. Sister School Partnerships: The office assists in establishing and maintaining Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with universities in the Philippines to strengthen academic cooperation and promote international student recruitment.

Office of Academic Affairs

1. Assisting students with course selection:

(1) Course Selection Confirmation System: After the adding and dropping of courses at the beginning of each semester, the course selection form must be confirmed three times by the student, the class academic affairs representative, and the homeroom teacher. This ensures that the student has enrolled in a sufficient number of credits and has re-registered for any courses previously failed.

(2) Attendance Warning System: The school enforces a strict attendance-taking policy by instructors. A course warning system is established, linking the vice class representative, course instructors, homeroom teachers, department chair, and the office of academic affairs. This system monitors students with excessive absences, offers care, and encourages them to make improvements.

2. Assisting teachers with teaching related matters.

3. Assisting in arranging tutoring sessions or senior student volunteer tutoring.

4. Other academic and learning related affairs.

Office of Student Affairs

Providing support and resources for international students regarding daily life, extracurricular activities, and counseling:

1. Dormitory guidance and support.

2. Guidance for club and leisure activities

3. Assigning two advisers to assist and guide international students.

4. Assisting students in maintaining communication with their families.

5. Other student counseling-related matters.

Department of Humanities / Humanities Department

1. Assist in arranging the class’ Yide Meeting “Class Fathers and Mothers.”

2. Assist in arranging Tzu Chi volunteers from the Philippines to visit and encourage students.

3. Establish communication channels with the Tzu Chi branch in the Philippines and assist in relaying messages between students and their families when necessary.
